What did your son do? If some punk stuck a finger in my face, I might twist it off.

Does your son always tell the truth? Have there been any other incidents of this bus driver harming any children. Will other kids come forward? Let's look at facts. Kids can be kids. Your child may have a special pissoff at this bus driver and knows the power of kid power these days. Try and get all the facts and see if your bus driver has a reputation. Also you might talk to some of the parents of the kids who were on the bus the day the alleged incident occurred. See if any of the kids spontaneously told their folks about a "bus incident." If not, this might be make believe.

File a report with the School board and include all details. You can write to the President of the local school board and he or she will answer you. Make sure you word your complaint properly, have someone who has experience help you. If you cannot find anyone, write to me an tell me the details leading up to and during the finger twisting.
I can then help you. That finger twisting is a crime under simple assault. Child abuse is also a misdemeanor
Why do you think the bus driver did it?

Since the Principal doesn't want to help you, I would go to the police and file a report. That is child abuse!
But again, what was your son doing that the bus driver would do such a nasty thing to him for???
I would have a serious talk my kid and his friends and find out what the whole story is! He didn't deserve to have an adult twist his finger but I am sure he was doing something to piss her off!
I hate to say it, but usually people that deal with kids all day long don't run around twisting people's fingers. Regardless, she should have enough self control not to do that!
The police report will definitely get their attention!

Always 2 sides to a story...find out what they believe happened then decide on you measures.
Meeting with principal or superintentant would be the next logical step. make sure the Bus driver is there to represent his/her side. The next logical step would be to file a complaint against the bus driver for assualt. I just hope that your son wasn't the cause of the problem because the whole thing could fall back in on you.

Speaking from an educator’s perspective.... Find out if there were witnesses and find out how to contact their parents express your concerns to their parents, most likely they will ask their child about what happened for you and relay the details to you. Then let the principle know you have witnesses whose parents you spoke with and if nothing happens that you are going to the District office to talk to someone that "can" resolve the issue. (but you have to be ready to back your words with actions because otherwise if something else ever comes up you are dubbed as an annoying whining parent that really just complains and doesn't follow through). Now if no one at the District level does anything that satisfies you, let them know you are going to the next school board meeting as well as PTA meeting voicing your concerns over not only your child's safety but the student body as well. Also let them know you aren't going to be bullied by them (trust me most District know a lot of parents that are all bark and no bite so they blow off the parents). Become a letter writer and let them know you are doing so. Start with your local paper, letters to the editor can be a very effective tool to get things done. No school wants to be in the negative limelight. All schools are accountable; after all it is you the taxpayer that pays for your child's education. Good Luck and know it can be a struggle unless you can get some support from parents whose children witnessed it.... NO one wants it to happen to their child.

Go to the school district superintendent. They usually don't like publicity. Let them know that you will go to the media if nothing is done about this situation. Make sure you have back up you, will need some type of proof preferably witnesses, it will be hard to prove without them. sadly most school district still don't have enough money to provide video in their buses.
You may also try Child Protective Services, they may have other problems with this person (bus driver), this is a case of child abuse.

Alot of schools have "video tapes" of all bus rides. Last year my son was kicked in the face and they caught it on tape(it wasn't my son's fault). I highly reccomend calling a lawyer and telling the school so. I would also ask for a meeting with the principal. Til action is taken, drive your son back and forth to school. I wish you the best of luck, too many times schools refuse to do anything.
