It instills the fear of God. It tells us about the wages of sin. It underscores Hell. It embraces The Ten Commandments. Yet, those who preach it, are the worst sinners. To me Christianity is simply a means to control the masses. It allows men ot cloth to practice the most hideous of behavior, (still another example of "do as I say, not as I do". )We are told to "believe" and "have faith" which I can do. But it is far more acceptable if I converse with the God within myself. Not the Church.

No I do not believe I arose "from the dead," and it makes little difference if I am the "Jewish Messiah."or not. He does NOT dictate how I am to live MY life.
You say "There are many denominations each with a different view on how to follow Christ"
Precisely my point.
Someone else says: "The only true God is the one you say is 'a way to control the masses'
Precisely my point, and..I do NOT need to be controlled.
You say, "So how do we communicate with God? We start by reading his book" Precisely my point......We read, and then we seek further..
Someone else says: "Go straight to God" And that is exactly what I did. And I found Him. Inside. He directs my life. He reminds me to treat others as I wish to be treated myself. He direcs me to be compassionate, loving, caring, understanding....
and to worship Him, this superior being, this Omnipotent spirit, This God above ALL Other Gods.
I have found HIM,
within myself.

Someone else says:
..."and will have no one to blame for your eternal anguish except yourself. But God gives you that choice. "
Presidely my point
He has given me that Choice. To Worship HIM as he is within myself. I do not worship myself. ...and I will suggest here that I am far beyond your way of thnking.

It is refreshing to read of a mind so young with such wisdom beyond her years. Not only well read, but understands WHAT she reads. A seeker of truth. The number of your questions reflects a curious mind. A Believer in the Written Word of God, who seeks but a full understanding of the Creator, who needs not the attendance in the company of others; but who walks to a different drummer. A light in the darkness called Christianity, which puts on a good front, but has little substance behind its' facade representing the teachings of God's only begotton Son.
These people understand not one who attends the true Church of God, built not with hands. "....I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands." Mark 14:58.
They understand not, one who takes to heart a fully acknowledged belief in all ten Commandments. They who call themselves Christian, copy the ways of the heaten they were forbidden to associate with; bring trees cutteth out of the forest by a workman with an ax, and decorate it with silver and gold (Jer. 10); have an abundance of graven images within their houses of worship; and attend prayer meetings on the first day of the week, and not God's Holy Sabbath. "Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised." Jer. 9:25.
You are wise to follow your heart and the mind that leads you to Him. Let not others lead you astray. Your path is true. God is within us all. Only a few have come to that understanding, as most have ears which can not hear, and eyes which can not see. God bless.

If you think you are the first to worship yourself as a god, you are sadly mistaken. That is what you are doing. Although you are probably right about a lot of people in the churches being the biggest sinners( many are there for show, not to seek God), you are wrong if you think true Christians who seek the face of God are that way. If that's what you think, you are deluded. You will just be another person who Satan caused to believe a lie and be damned. That's where self worship will take you, sir. To damnation. To repent means to turn away from sin. True Christians do this. If you let the actions of people pretending to be Christians keep you from serving the true Living God, then you are being foolish and will have noone to blame for your eternal anguish except yourself. But God gives you that choice.

I'm reading a couple of your questions, which are hardly inquisitive, and this is one of the few that I agree with. I don't believe in God, and I'm not religious, but if I would be religious, I wouldn't accept anybody between myself and my God. Priests, although they might have more time on their hands reading the Bible, are no closer to God than I would be. Most of them are really honest and good willing people, but they have no higher authority in interpreting the Bible than I would, or anybody else.
And now to approach from the practical side. Most of the people of the world need a religion, any religion, which is ruled by a priesthood. My ancestors needed that moral guide packaged together with religion, which made me and many others what we are today. Although I said I'm not religious, and I don't believe in a God, my moral laws are very close to Christian morals.

Did God raise you from the dead? Are you the Jewish Messiah? I could go on; however, I believe I have made my point.
A follower of Christ is exactly that. Christianity consists of followers grouped by congregations. There are many denominations each with a different view on how to follow Christ.
Let start with the basics: The only restriction on Christians is given in 1 Cor 10:23-24.
We know that there are two covenants: one given to the Israelites (Jews) and one given to the non Jews (Gentiles). This is because Christianity comes from Judaism.
Christian believe in God's word as spoken by the prophets documented in the bible. The bible is a tool for Christian believers that contains useful information.
Heaven is where God is and hell is where he is not. Earth is where man is. How do we get to God? Everything we know about God and his relationship to man is by revelation, revealed knowledge. Simply put, God reveals, man observes.
God is everywhere not just within yourself. God is spirit and we worship him in spirit and in truth. God existed before and created everything we can observe. So how do we communicate with God? We start by reading his book.

There are religions that preach what could be called good news, such as Jesus died for our sins, and other similar things. Certainly there is nothing wrong with doing that. HOWEVER that is a small a part of the good news that Jesus preached or told us, his followers, to preach. What would Jesus talk about if he came to your door? Why don't we let him answer that: “But he said to them: 'Also to other cities I must declare the good news of the kingdom of God, because for this I was sent forth.'” (Luke 4:43) This is the message preached by the first century Christians. And to be honest, it is only Jehovah's Witnesses who preach the good news OF THE KINGDOM today.

Many need to name a god or gods as a way to get closer to the ultimate. Some seek within. I believe all paths lead to the Source. We cannot become separated from that which we are a necessary part. It does not matter where or how or if you seek god(or whatever you call the ultimate) because it has always been with you.

You can certainly seek after the god within yourself, but you will find that he is powerless.
If you openly and honestly seek after God, you will find that the God of the bible is real, and He is awesome. I agree that the church is in a sad state of affairs today, but I am not talking the church. I am talking about a true and real relationship with God. Don't base your opinion about God solely on the fact that some that claim His name do not follow His precepts.
Christians are just people. We strive to follow God, and we sometimes fail. But in His grace, He chooses to love us anyways. There is nothing in this world that can rival this.

Fair argument, but keep in mind that
1. not all those who claim to be Christian are in fact Christian
2. Christians do not claim to be sinless, just forgiven, though that's not a reason to keep sinning.
If we only search for God for ourselves, isn't that selfish (another sin)? I can't bear the thought of someone else being separated from God.

There are lots of misconceptions about what "following Jesus" means and what he taught.
Have you read the teachings of Jesus in the Bible? The book of Luke in the Bible gives a good chronicle of his life and what He taught.
Following Jesus is not about following "people/sinners." It's about following him and what he taught. Forgiveness. Patience. Hope. Faith in God. Loving others. Kindness. Etc.
Yes, some who preach Christianity do public, bad things and some do really good things (Mother Teresa??? There are plenty of good, kind Christians and churches in the world). What does that really matter anyway? I don't follow people here on Earth; I follow Jesus -- because of what he taught! Check it out for yourself.
Good luck on your journey! :-)

The Christ said to go into the closet of your mind, close the door, and be with your Father...this you are doing. Don't be concerned so much with what others preach or think, or demand of you. Be who you are, but with compassion for the world that you see.
