Not really. With the economy going up and down at times, it is really difficult to predict whether jobs will be coming up for you. One thing is sure, if you get a PhD and manage to find a job, the salary will definitely be very attractive.

Hope it helps.

It depends on what the PhD is in.

If you get a doctorate in something like history or English, your best job possibilities will be in academia -- a tough job market.

The best job market for PhDs is in the sciences, particularly computer/Internet and bio-medical. Given the world situation, PhDs in foreign policy -- specializing in Middle Eastern affairs -- also are a good bet.

Not if you wear that hat to interviews! :-)

I don't think a PhD will mean MORE jobs. It could just as easily mean fewer as people can view you as overqualified. But it can mean being seriously considered for a higher level job when you do land a job. You only live once - I say Go For It!

Most PhD's are college professors. If your goal is to become a college professor, then go for it.

Well it does give you a better chance, I mean you still have to go through the whole interview deal, but if they're not sure then they'll pick you over the other applicant because surely you'll have more experience, more tools to bring into their workplace...
