If you are slim, go with a shoulder length cut with lots of layers. You are only 50, you don't have to get it cut super short, just to look mature. 50 is the new 35!

It's all simply a matter of personal preference. I actually have short hair and guys just like it. And i prefer a guy with short hair over a person with long hair because long curly hair tends to make guys look too girly.

Being a young fifty myself, my hair is naturally curly, I used to wear it long, but now have it cut into a bob style not quite should lenght but not too short. Its very managable and it makes me feel young.

a stylish bob - go to a very good hairdresser to have it done at the beginning, talk through exactly what you want and how it will look once finished.
Go sharp and edgey..

a bob would add to the young look, but it may over do it. i would suggest dredlocks, but those are only for persons with spiritual beliefs attatched to nature and living naturally. everyone looks good with dredlocks
