I've used a pumice and cucumber heel cream, but the effects don't last too long. Ideas?

Yes-you can't wait until they are rough to worry about it. On a regular basis, about once a week, you use a pumice and scrub. ALWAYS. This will keep them from ever getting rough. Then wear slippers around the house. It is bare feet that get rough. Wear socks and slippers as much as possible.

If they are already rough, you need to use the pumice every day for a while, and thoroughly lotion your feet afterwords, then immediately put socks or slippers on over the clean feet. It may take several weeks to get them soft again.

At night you can lotion them and put socks on to help.

The pumice is good, and what I do is to put Shea butter on my heels and others dry zones of my body. You can also put the butter and then cotton socks over night. You need regular care for them if you have a dry skin.

I have this problem also. This is what I do. While my feet are dry I use a foot file to file away some of the worst of it. While in the shower I attack it again with a metal foot file. Once out of the shower I use either dr. scholls or goldbond lotion. I slather it on really think & then add the socks. By the time you do this everyother day for a week you should be a lot better.

after you use pumice, just start wearing shoes and socks more, even around the house.

Get a really good spa pedicure and then get some good foot lotion and the special socks that come with it and keep up with the maintenance.

I recommend that you go to your podiatrist and have him/her prescribe 'AmLactin 12%' which is a substitute for 'Lac-Hydrin'. It works wonders on my heels.
