what if thousands of people we hated come into our country, stuck guns in our faces and told us how it was us to operate, who is going to lead us, when/why. i think we might be kind of upset too.

Many reasons including an escalating cycle of vengence killings, post invasion empowerment and religious radicalization of the Shiites, the fact that people have moved out of religiously mixed neighborhoods and there is now an east west Shiite Sunni divide across the Tigris River and the perceived need to enforce it, the fact that the Iraq government is perceived as sectarian (Shiite), Irai police are allied with the militia and many are members of the nightly death squads, and for many a 70% unemployment rate just doesnt leave much else to do except kill Americans, blasphemers, and the murderers of one's own family members.
---
C = JD - Tries to minimize the losses - 51 Americans have been killed this month, one of the highest rates of the war. US loses one batallion a month to injuries. Iraq was under the fist of a mericiless strongman before we invaded, but people had jobs, went to school and college, had safe streets, and had clean water and basic staple foods to eat at all times. NIE, the compiled wisdom of 16 US intelligence agencies said foreign influence was very small -- this is almost all Iraqis fighting Iraqis and Americans.

The truth? The truth is that Iran is waging a covert war in Iraq and has been for some time. We need to go into Iran and put a stop to it at its source. However, our government doesn't do that because it is under constant assault by liberals in this country who want to aid muslim fascists in murdering a hell of alot of people and plunging the world into chaos (this will somehow result in the rise of marxism and resulting utopia....lol). Anyway, these people tie our hands politically from doing what is necessary. If Bush dares to do what is needed, they will use the opportunity to seize power and then the real problems will start.
Remember. The last time the liberals had control of our government, they gave nuclear reactors to North Korea (which is why North Korea currently has nuclear bombs and is threatening us with them), they put Arafat in power (which is the ONLY reason islamic terror came back to the region), and they completely disabled our domestic security apparatus, directly resulting in 9/11. Hell, if you examine what happened during the Carter administration (not to mention what that evil prick does these days) you clearly see how islamic fascism is a direct (purposeful?) outcome of his policies. Look at what Kerry was doing, for God's sake before he got his *** kicked in the election. He was meeting with the iranian mullahs, telling them that if they supported his bid for election he would make sure the US did not interfere with their nuclear ambitions and he got caught doing this (once a traitor, always a traitor it seems).
What the hell will the next crop of liberals do if they get in? World War 3? The real threat isn't Iraq, or even Iran. It's here at home.

It,s all a matter of perspective I can tell by this question you are probably quite young so you don't have any point of reference there is a war going on and people die in wars. WW2 2 million casulties Korean 50,000 Vietnam 36,000. In the US murder death rate is 19,000 a year that's 52 people a day in this country and there is no war.

Do you refer to the death toll among U.S. soldiers, or generally?
If you're referring to the death toll among U.S. soldiers, the death toll is fortunately low. Clearly each soldier's death is a major loss to our country and to the soldier's family, but a cursory glance at military history will show you that *tens of thousands* often died in ONE battle in a short period of time. That the soldiers death toll is under 3,000 over 3.5 years is fortunate.
The civilian toll is higher thanks to the chaos and violence in Iraq which is being fueled by Iran. Iraq's neighbor, Iran, does not want any democracy in the region, especially next door to them. Obviously democracy isn't exactly compatible with the Islamic dictatorship that is in place in Iran, so Iran's intent is to derail democracy in Iraq, or, at the very minimum, delay it as long as possible, or make it appear like a failure.

The death toll is soaring because we have totally destabilized Iraq. The terrorists are pour in from all over the Middle East because they hate us and the religious factions in Iraq hate each other. The longer we stay, the worse it will get.

Because our enemies, the Islamic fascists, have increased their activity in an effort to effect the election on Nov 7. As you know, the more shooting at one another, the more chance of causalities and deaths.

The US is not helpless at all. It has provoked the fighting. The US has often sat back and watched while militias tear each other to pieces. But they are not helpless.
