hi all
ive had my cat over 7yrs and just got a new dog 4 months ago
my cat has always been very shy but now she wont come out of my bedroom because the dog keeps going for her the dog is 2yrs old and iam really missing my cat how can i get them to like each other:o)

It's not a matter of getting your dog to LIKE your cat. It is a matter of getting the dog to LEAVE THE CAT ALONE. We had the same problem with our puppy and we taught her the phrase "leave it" (a.k.a. leave it alone). When she would go after the cat, she would be told in a stern voice "NO" and "LEAVE IT". She eventually learned that the cat was not her own personal fuzzy, walking toy. It will take some work, but you have to do it.

ya can't force animals to like or dislike each other.. i have a cat and a dog and i had the same problem.. it also depends on the breed of dog as some breeds r vicious... but try leaving them in the same room together.. or if the dog goes for the cat shout at the dog and ignore him/her when it looks for attention but dont spoil one and not the other cuz animals do get jealus.

Tough one! i'm not exactly into cats myself! I prefer to chase them but then ... Your cat was there before your dog. Cats are so territorial too! It's going to take a lot of time and hopefully they'll get on. Make sure you give your cat lots of attention but not when your dog is about! Was i to see my mummy cuddle a cat !!! It's be WW3!

You cant make them like each other. But find some kind of reward that they get when they are friendly. (do not punish them for not being frendly, its natural)
