Get another MRI. You may have more than 1 disc problem. Check for staples left in. Ask about scar tissue growing from the operation incision. See only a neuro-surgeon for professional help

I know that perhaps surgery helps 70% of the time for people in
the long run...But then there are 30 % perhaps, that it work for.
The pain will come back again within a year. So, ya..youv'e done
your home work. Get a second opinion too from another Doc. I
have a friend who has "nerve blocks" for pain back pain relief, it
is a shot of somekind. And she has them every 3-4 months I'm
pretty sure. So also, look into that. She said it helps her alot.
Pain management treatment centers are maybe another route.
Cause spinal surgery is a serious thing...as u are aware of. But
I have an "inoperable" condition, which means..I will need to do
SOMETHING pretty soon, Th dosc won't give me pain pills. All they will do is give me a perscription for anti-inflammatory......I
wish you the best...

My mom had a herniated disc and several back sugeries, the disc removed with a titanium cage screwed in and the whole nine yards over the course of several years with terrible lower back pain and even numbness in her legs. Finally after years and years of literal hell, I mean pain management, physical therapy, pain pills, sugery after sugery, the drs being like well lets try this and lets try this until they were finally like well we cant find whats causing your pain so it must just all be in your head so they sent her to several psychiatrists, and the list just goes on and on, ten years of this and one day she had a cat scan done for another reason and the radiologist found a cyst in her back with long strings coming off of it pinching into her nerves so they immediately took her to sugery and removed it and she hasnt had back pain since.

Go to a chiropractor. I wouldn't let anyone cut my back before I tried every course of action otherwise available.
