Someone said you will get it in 3 weeks. Sorry, but no way to guarantee that! When do you need it by? That is going to make a big difference. Depending on where your application goes and you have no control over this it can take 4 - 12 weeks to get your passport.

You can expedite it however it is quite expensive. You are not only paying for the overnight charge, but to be bumped ahead of the line.

As far as one getting the Governor to do this, I find this quite hard to believe! I mean come on, asking the Governor?? If that was the case NO one would go through the passport centers. You can try, but I find this suggestion silly.

Also I would suggest when you do your application put for your travel dates 1 week prior to your actual date. Depending on when you need it by, you don't have to expedite it right away. You can do this 10 - 14 days prior to your departure date then if need be. Good Luck to you and just get in ASAP!

The absolute "quickest" way to get a passport is to go directly to your closest National Passport Center - here it's in Philadelphia - you can get same day service.

Good luck.

Go to www.travel.state.gov/passport. This is the official site for passports. The site will tell you how and where to obtain the passport and how much it cost for "Expedited" service. The average wait without this service is listed as 4-6 weeks.

Take your picture (taken for a passport) and go to your local post office. Some small towns do not have this service, tho. Fill out the paper work, and tell them to put a rush on it. It will cost you alot more to do this. Otherwise, it can take 3 -9 weeks to get it. And, I have heard of even longer---depends on how busy they are.

There are many passport companies. They offer regular service (1 - 2 months) or they offer expedited service (1day - 2 weeks). Go to www.travel.state.gov/passport and look up info on getting your passport. You can also get the application from here.

Notify your Representative or Senator that you need a passport ASAP. In 1995, I needed to get my renewed and a call to Senator Jesse Helms' office got me my passport in 3 days. And I didn't even vote for Jesse! Call your Representative or Senator and tell them. They can pull lots of strings and amazingly enough, that's what they are there for.
