Thanks! When I write cheap/affordable I don't mean $50. I know it's Manhattan. However, I am not really willing to pay $300 a night when all I will really need is a bed to sleep. I'm sure someone out there knows a nice little hotel that is "affordable" to Manhattan standards. Thanks!

There's Howard Johnson on 34th st bet. 7th and 8th ave (across the street from Penn Sta).
You can also try hotel.com.

try the web. octupustravel are usually not to bad. i'm going to the wellington for four nights in march and cost me £350.00 which i though was not too bad. shop around though.
