The Old Testament is the Book of Jewish scriptures that reveals God as our Father in Heaven, and chronicles the history of creation and how God loved, protected, admonished and guided His chosen people, the Jews from the beginning until the coming of the promised Messiah. It is the book of the Old Covenant that God made with His people. It is mainly to be used as an historical and referential guide to the Bible as a Whole.
The New testament is the Book of the New Covenant of God with His people, and brings us the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophesies in the coming of the Messiah and Savior promised us by God in the Old Testament. The Old Testament shows the bloodline coming down from King David to Mary and Joseph and it was promised that from the House of David the Anointed Messiah would be born. The N.T fulfills that. The OT says that the Messiah would be born of a virgin. The New Testament confirms that Mary was a virgin. But, the NT is much more. It brings us the eternal Word and His message of Love. It abolishes many of the old laws and establishes God's new covenant of Love in the person of Jesus Christ and His teaching. The New Testament also explains Christs teachings in the light of the Old Testament prophesies and shows how Jesus' coming fulfills God's plan for Salvation and the meaning of the end times and the reign of the Kingdom of God.
You can buy bibles in English in any book store or religious store. But if you do not live in the United States, then try Amazon.com or the Barnes and Noble website, or EBay.

The first major difference is that the former is old and the latter new. Just kidding, even tho in fact what I just said in jest is true.

Seriously, the Old Testament is a book about the days before Jesus Christ. Among many other subjects, it deals with the creation of the world, Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Moses to whom God gave the Ten Commandments, Abraham, King David, Solomon, and many Prophets during that time, It is a book inspired by the Holy Spirit and Christians believe that what is written there is the word of God. It is the first part of the Holy Bible.

The New Testament is the second part of the Bible mainly written by the four apostles of Jesus: John, Matthew,
Mark, and Luke. They recount the life of Jesus from His birth to His death in Calvary. Other authors are St. Paul whose letters are quite familiar to Christians, and St James and St Peter. Christians likewise believe that the New Testament is inspired by the Holy Spirit and what is written there is the word of God.

I can go on and on to tell you the difference (and similarities as well), but I hope by reading what I have written here you'll have a general idea.

Go to a bookstore and ask for the Holy Bible in English. This is the easiest version to find. Please note that there are two versions of the Holy Bible, whether written in English or any other language: the one for Catholics and the other for the Protestants (I think nowadays they refer to themselves as "Christians" ..even tho Catholics are likewise Christians..and it seems the word Protestant may eventually disappear from our vocabulary.

The Old Testament is the covenant between God and the Israelites (sons of Abraham), and the New Testament is the new covenant between God and... everyone, I think. The division comes with the introduction of Jesus Christ. The OT also includes some history of the Israelites and the creation and flood stories. You can find it anywhere in English - go to www.biblegateway.com and you can read both there.

You can click on the Bible icon at the bottom of the page @ http://web.express56.com/~bromar/ and also find many Bible resources on the Free Stuff page of that site.

Scholars say that the New Testament is concealed in the Old Testament and that the meaning of the Old Testament is revealed in the New Testament. By that they mean that the Old Testament was pointing towards the coming of Jesus and the New Testament explains how much of the Old Testament laws and prophesies were symbolic or shadows of things revealed in the New Testament.

Romans 15:4 For as many things as were previously written, were written for our own instruction, that through the patience and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we may have hope.

Colossians 2:13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 having blotted out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and He has taken it out of the midst, nailing it to the cross. 15 And having disarmed principalities and powers, He mocked them in public, triumphing over them in it. 16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or of a new moon or of sabbaths, 17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the body is of Christ.

You should be able to get them in any bookstore or library. I don't know the difference but I know that Judaism is based more on the old testament, and Christianity is based more on the new testament.

The Old Testament was about God's Covenant with His people and the coming of the Messiah.

The New Testament was about the Messiah - Jesus, and the end of the old Covenant and the beginning of the new Covenant.

Be aware that testament is an older term for what we today in the U.S. call a will. (See description in Hebrews). The 'old testament' was the Lord's will. The new testament is updated Lord Jesus Christ will for man; to acknowledge and rever God the Father.
