Genesis 9:11-16

11 And I will establish My covenant with you. Neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood. Neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.
12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between Me and you and every living creature with you, for everlasting generations:
13 I set my rainbow in the cloud. And it shall be a token of a covenant between Me and the earth.
14 And it shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud.
15 And I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16 And the rainbow shall be in the cloud. And I will look upon it that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.

Back in the days of Noah the people were so filled with corruption , that god decided to distroy the earth by way of a flood. After it was over god created a rainbow as his promise to never distroy the earth by way of water ever again. That is why after every rainfall as a reminder of his promise you can see a rainbow

God said that He would put a sign in the sky, a rainbow, to signify to us that never again would he wipe out all life on earth with a world wide flood.

In the book of Gensis, where it describes the events of the flood, after the land had dried and God rid the earth of all men (except noah and his family), He made a covenant with mankind to never mass detroy them again, and he gave the rainbow as a symbolic reminder of that covenant, and a symbol of Hope of a dawn of a new day and a fresh start with Him.

The rainbow is God's covenant with man to never destroy mankind by flood again. It is a sign of new beginnings. God does however plan to renovate the earth by fire (See Revalation regarding "New Earth".

God flooded the world because He saw all the evil going on and was sickened by His creation. Perversions, sexual sickness, drinking, relations with animals, killings and rapes, fighting and wars...{sound familiar???} So He cleansed His Earth by flooding it, and after wards, He made a rainbow appear, which IS His PROMISE to us that He would NEVER flood His Earth again. But there are many wake up calls happening all around the world today, for He is getting ready for His 2ND coming. Read and study Revelations, join a bible study group. God has many great blessings for all who believe on His Son, Christ Jesus, that He was born unto a virgin, taught many people of His Father, who art in Heaven, died on the CROSS for ALL of our sins, rode again 3 days later, and has promised to come back for those of us who FAITHFULLY, HONESTLY, with out a shadow of a doubt, and with out seeing...that He is, in fact our SAVIOR, who will one day remove all pain, tears, and all evil, so we may glorify Him forever and ever.

Gen.9:14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: Gen.9:15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
