yes, it's safe, not very comfy though. We took it from Texas to Cali. I didn't have any problems except maybe with sleep a little. it's not so terribly uncomfortable though and very well worth the price.

Safety I guess depends on where you're going from, to, and the route you're taking. I've never had a problem myself, and I'm not sure what the statistics are as far as violence/theft compared to other modes of transportation, but keep your eyes open. Trips I've taken have routed me through Milwaukee, Chicago, St. Louis, etc. Pretty big places where a lot can happen, and some pretty shady stops in between where even though there was time, we were content to stay ON the bus....

It's not any less comfortable than flying or taking a train, it just takes longer. But the good thing is when they have scheduled stops, you can get OUT of the bus and walk around instead of doing laps in the aisles. Being able to wait and use a real toilet is also a bonus. And the road noise isn't as bad as the roar of the engines on a plane if you're "lucky" enough to get a wing seat.

It's definitely an experience, but if you can afford something quicker or better, by all means take that instead.

If you are an Army wife take a flight with space A. Greyhound takes forever though it is safe enough. Better to go through the hassle of taking forever and getting a flight but being around military people. It should not be necessary for you to take a bus..... as an army wife. If you are not sure about how it works ask one of the older wives as they have this thing all worked out

I think it is even safer than the airplane. The only problem I have ever had was sometimes not all of the other riders have has a shower in the last month or two. No it's not that bad and unlike Amtrak, the bus is usually on time.

I was stationed in Jacksonville Fl and am originally from Houston Tx. I have family in south Tx as well. I used to ride the greyhound from Fl to TX and one time I got stupid and rode it all the way to south Tx. NEVER AGAIN. Traveling from state to state can be quite interesting because of the crazy idiotic people you run into, I still dont considder it safe and most definetely COMFORTABLE.

Yes, it's safe. As for comfort... sure, it's as comfy as it can be when you're stuck in a bus for hours on end, stopping at every backwater bus stop between here and there. You will stop everywhere and the journey will take forever!!!
