Most likely your pup got kennel cough a few weeks ago and now is showing the signs. So I would guess that the dog you where playing with will start showing signs in a couple weeks. Kennel cough is highly contagious. You should be very careful that your pup is not around other dogs for at least a month. Check with your vet to make sure that is what he has. You cannot cure kennel cough. You have to ride it out. You can get cough syrup prescribed by your vet. Please do not use over the counter products. You can get your pup very ill or even death. If your pup gets a secondary infection from kennel cough your vet will prescribe antibiotics. Hope she gets better!

Where ever there are a lot of dogs there is Kennel Cough. I agree that a reputable breeder would not let a puppy go at 6 weeks.
Your pup doesnt necessarily have Kennel Cough, could have something stuck in his throat.
Did your reputable breeder have your pup vaccinated?
Shelter dogs and pups are fully vaccinated and healthy before they are sent home, so dont be so quick to lay blame.

Well it could be kennel cough, but most pounds and places like the ASPCA Vaccinate and Spay/Neuter the animals before they are placed up for adoption. and your puppy could get sick just by eating something thats outside. try not to blame the other dog yet, have the vet run the test weather it be Fecal or blood and if the puppy is sick the Vet will give you a list of things or places where you puppy could possibly get sick from.

Based on my previous experience as a veterinary assistant, and as a humane worker, take your dog to the vet to have her checked. Also, contact law enforcement. Animal abuse is not a joke, or a childish prank. Children who abuse animals statistically grow up to be violent adults. (And next time they may outright kill your puppy.) The fact that the mother is laughing about the situation, makes me think the children may be in an abusive home. Also, be very careful that your animals are never out of your sight. People like this can be vindictive (even if you do not report the incident). One of my brother’s puppies was stomped to death by a neighbor because the man’s son wanted it. Luckily a humane society member happened to be jogging in the area and saw it happen and they were able to prosecute. By that time the man was in jail on another offense. Also, your neighbor’s dog should not be running loose on other people’s property. Most places have leash laws. You should report their dog running at large also. Keep in mind if their dog comes onto your property and one of your dogs injures it, there is a chance they can still have you charged, so it is for you, and your dogs’ own protection. Also, do not escalate the situation. Do not give her any reason to report you. Good luck.

Have you had your dog vaccinated yet? If not, it could be a number of things. Also, heart worms can make them cough like that. I am not 100% if 9 weeks is too young for heart worms or not. Or, he could just have a cough. Take him to the vet before you get mad at your neighbors, it could be something very simple.

Did your "reputable breeder" start your wayyyyyyyy to young puppy on his/her shots???? No reputable breeder will ever give you a puppy at 6 weeks of age....And, guess what?...before they get placed into new homes, dogs from pounds are checked by vets and vaccinated if necessary....

Trish, you didn't say if the other dog was sick or not, I wouldn't to much faith in the breeder, 6 wks. old ? Some are out just for the money, I hope your pup didn't get the other pup sick.
