Hi everyone. When i was 18 I messed my credit up bad(should have listened to my parents). Im now 23 and I paid off 3 negative accounts and paid one that we settled on an amount. I know its going to be on my credit for awhile but it says zero balance now. My question is, i got a new credit card to rebuild my credit its only $250 limit. Is it better for me to keep the balance very low? and of course make the payments on time? or do creditors want to see a balance held? Im at 555 score now i want to get back in the 600's whats the best way to get my score back up? any advice? and if i pay it on time for 6 months how fast will it go up again/>

I would also go online and dispute all those negative accounts. I was in the EXACT same situation and am your same age and my score was about the same. Last month I disputed all my old negative accounts and my scores are all above 600 now! E-mail me if you have questions or need help! They even removed 1 of the accounts completely!

Credit..hmmm... Ok I think you should pay off the bill as soon as it arrives. Do not leave a balance on the credit card. It will take you more than 6 months to get ur credit back up to where you want it to be. The best way is to have a bill automatically paid from your credit card (such as your cell phone bill, internet...something that you pay monthly). & make sure you pay the bill at least 15 days before it is due. If you have a bill payed on time every month that helps you build your credit up. I strongly believe that it will take you at least two years to build your credit back up to where you may be able to purchase an automobile or even a home. Also if you can, take out some stroe cards, such as express, H&M, Old Navy & keep to help you out. Make minimum purchases on these store cards & pay them off ASAP. I hope this helps you out & I wish you the best of luck.

paying in full or paying a minimum doesn't affect your credit score. if you can pay in full so you don't have to pay interest.
