The lectern. This is typically an eagle perched on a ball. The ball represents the world and the eagle represents the word of God. This is to symbolise God's word being spread around the world. It is used to support the Bible for reading during church services, the Bible being a very heavy book which needs some hefty support. The word lectern comes from the Latin word "legere", meaning "to read".
The lectern is always at the front of the church and it is usually made of bronze.

a lectern. and it is a stand which the Heavy books, or bibles are placed upon while the pastor is making his speech/sermon.
