Either Supershuttle or BWI taxi - private taxis are not allowed on BWI airport property for security reasons. Barwood will not take you to airport.

Now, if you were daring - you could drive from Gaithersburg to Shady Grove and take the Red Line to Fort Totten and transfer to the Green Line heading for Greenbelt. Once you get to Greenbelt - you can take the B-30 bus which drops you at the lower level of BWI. You avoid a $50 taxi fee and your party travels at a relaxed pace rather than dealing with Beltway traffic. The B-30 bus drivers are very courteous and do not talk on cell phones while driving the bus.

Take the SuperShuttle, it will be cheapest. Call 1-800-blue-van. They charge per stop, not per person, not sure what the current fare to BWI from Gaithersburg is so I will estimate $40-50. A cab will cost a lot more than that. If you do decide to cab it, call Barwood. Get the local number from 411 because there's several different offices they can dispatch from. If you pick SuperShuttle, they will ask what time the flight is and pick you up accordingly although they tend to schedule pretty early; you might have some extra time to kill at the airport. If you pick Barwood or another cab service, I'd recommend leaving at 5:30 or even a little earlier for a domestic flight; it will probably take an hour for the trip or maybe even a little more with rush hour traffic.

I agree with the first answerer. Super Shuttle (1-800-BLUEVAN) does have the best price. They will insist on getting you to the airport at least 2 hours before your flight - so they are not responsible for missed flights.

That is a bad time for a flight since you will have to be on I-95 during rush hour. Plan to leave for the airport no later than 4:30.

Barwood is reliable but will be more expensive. You could also use Private Car limo service. It is more expensive but you get to ride in a Lincoln Town Car.
