I am looking for an internet programme that will allow me to input dates from a number of projects and it will tell me how many working days it took. Does anyone know of such a programme?

The Excel function you should be looking at is NETWORKDAYS.
Look at the help for it, as it excludes weekends and any specific dates (holidays) you list.

xcel is the best, easiest, and cheapest way, and you will be growing knowledge in excel that may help you get a job one day. Just use the 360 day function in your formula
