Re-installing XP over your existing copy will only infact replace certain files and areas of your installation that has become corrupt, changed or missing.

By doing a complete format and reinstall then yes it would.

Viri and trojans have many places they can hide and will reappear on just a reinstallation

No not all viruses and trojans can be removed like this but generally formatting the window drive completely does the task for u.

Just reinstalling Windows? No. But if you were for format (you would lose everything mind you) you would get rid of them all.

the best way is to low level format on your hard drive (this will eras absolutely all data on your HD) and after that reinstall windows

i did a system restore and it took out the trojan virus that i had.

yes, but i recommend your whole hard drive (Drive C,D,E...etc) just to be sure
