I would say it was against Tommy "Tuffy" Mcguiness as this was the only fight he won in 1923 scoring a KO in the 4th round.
Check out Boxrec.com as this is where i found the information, click on name and type in your Grandfathers name his whole record is there, the fight i am talking about in particular was on 14/06/23. Hope this gives you the info you need.
Im sorry i have just looked at Mcguiness's record and he fought after the fight with your Grandfather and after checking the records of the other fighters they all went on to fight again so they obviously havent got a record for the fight you are talking about.
The last fight that they have on record though is against Piet Van Dam but that was 1926 so i am not 100 % sure whether i have got the right fighter.
If you need more info and are having problems contact me and i will give you some other boxing websites that i use that may help you.

If your grandfather was professional, there is a possibility that you may be able to find information on Wikipedia.org

Also, you may be able to writeone of the following major boxing organizations:

World Boxing Council,
World Boxing Association,
International Boxing Federation,
World Boxing Organization,

Additionally, you may find more information about this match at a local public library if you know roughly the timespan. There is a good chance that they have the newspaper on microfilm / microfiche for viewing and reprinting.

You would probably find it difficult to find anything online, given that newspapers haven't put all their archives online.

A couple of suggestions would be to write to experienced boxing correspondent (Colin Hart at The Sun or John Rawlings at The Guardian come to mind), or to put a letter in The Ring magazine (http://ring-online.com/ringpages/askeditors.html)
