In 2006, Dr. Mohammed Yunus from Bangladesh and Grameen Bank got noble prize in peace. The noble committee thought poverty alleviation is the key to peace. But isn't poverty alleviation more related to economics? Previously the theory of banking was 'You give loan to people who HAVE money, so that they can repay you quickly.' Mohammed Yunus believed that people who already have mone doesn't need any loan. He beleived 'You give loan to people who DO NOT have money, so that they can form a capital, earn money and then repay the loan.' This is perhaps the most revolutionary theory in banking system. So isn't economics the field where he deserved a Noble prize?

First of all congrats to him and the people of Bangladesh. I, as a bangladeshi, am proud of this achievement today. I believe Nobel Peace Prize is most deserving for Dr Yunus since he did think about caring for the poor so they have a better life, not just make money. The majority of the people in Bangladesh are under the poverty line and he has helped many overcome it and countless others will follow all over the world with his theory in mind. Money, sad to say, does bring happiness and peace. We, living in the western world, sometimes take many things for granted, but ive experienced both sides, and its not a peaceful feeling when you dont know what you are going to eat for lunch, let alone dinner. I hope poverty is slowly eliminated from this planet and we all have a wonderful life.... its a long shot....but doesnt hurt to dream.

The main thing is because he thought about people who DO NOT HAVE MONEY......this is the first thing to be known in humanity.....before economics or for that matter any other subject...
Peace Prize is the most deserved prize for him...
