All diets are gimmicks... People just need to eat healthy food, vegetable, fruits, drink water. And good meat, dairy, and so on... If people ate what was reaaly the portion size, then there wouldn't be a need for diets.... besides, many people lose all this weight, the minute they stop dieting it seems many times, they put it all back on and some... ( i realize thats not rue for every person, but many times)

Because this is an alternative medicine plan and the American Medical Association has not approved it yet. It doesn't keep them in business.
I know of practitioners that do promote this diet and also the Zone and 40-30-30 diet plans which are healthy eating and lifestyle plans.
Most diet programs are gimmicks, in that they teach poor nutrition/imbalance and reliance on suppliments, which are a setup for failure and weight rebound.
However there are good ones which teach healthy eating and lifestyle choices, such as Weight Watchers, Zone, 40-30-30 etc. They are effective as they educate users in nutrition and suppliments, etc. Things that are necessary for success and permanent weightloss.

I too thought that this was a load of nonsense. There are actually books as well as clinical studies to support these claims.

The fact of the matter is if you consume less calories than you burn you'll lose weight.Eating 5-6 smaller meals throughout the day and limiting carbohydrates can help to mitigate insulin. One of insulins roles in the body is to control blood glucose.Once your blood glucose exceeds what you need and what can be stored as glycogen, insulin will convert it to fat and store it in adipose tissue.
Drinking alot of water has been proven a myth by medical science as well.

Augmenting these ideas with exercise and other proven techniques can only help.
Exercising a specific body part does nothing to metabolize fat in that area.
