I feel that Buddhism offers a realistic way to live life. Christianity in it's pure form has a lot of good tenets to offer too. Buddhism meets life head-on but Christianity kind of closes it's ears and eyes to life. That's how I see it anyway.

I think it isn't a question of realistic as much as it is a question of continual honest practicing. Many things done on a day to day basis even for those of us that consider ourselves good people are sinful to many christian faiths. For example, drooling over that passing sports car is a form of Coveting. Bhuddism is not more realistic as it is so much how to say this 'easier' to follow, for it moves more with how you view yourself and wether or not you are sincerely trying to be a good person and cause as little harm to the world and all its inhabitants as possible, as opposed to following a set specific path way where any number of things can make you a 'sinful' person, one who is not as 'just' as another. Christianity has a way of making it's people embarassed about themselves, so they feel lesser than others. Whereas bhuddism teaches more of a be happy for the good times, but dont stress the bad because life is suffering, but int hat suffering there is also times of peace and joy which should be celebrated. So in short, its more or less stating (in my view) if you mess up, and truly are sorry, then focus not on the apologies or statements of being sorry,as there is no repent and all will be forgiven, but change how your acting immediately for what would be considered the betterment of yourself so you may continue to learn and grow both spiritually and mentally, in your mundane life as well as your astrophysical one.

Buddhism is a philosophy, a way of being rather than a religion, so yes, I believe it is much more realistic and beneficial to humanity than a political control mechanism such as christianity.

I think buddhism is the best religion after christianity.Realistic?No .Can you imagine if God didn't come down and face the sufferrings that we face we would be grumbling and saying "It's ok for you God You just sit on your throne and have no idea what we are going through".We can't say that now because,what can be worse than dying on the cross?What can be worse than the scourging at the pillar and the insults?So which is more realistic?

I see the influence of confucious and 'the buddha' in Jesus' teachings, which were far from new, even spoken in Aesop like parables based on fiction to teach a story/moral, using self discovery and revelation and individual spirituality

buddhism is less about blind faith and more about an awakening and embracing a kingdom of god NOW than sitting around hoping for a second coming and giving all your time and money to 'end time preachers' who also live and profit from impoverished christians they lead

once they become awakened, many become the gurus and repeat abuse and then bilk millions from the ignorant - see also John Hagee or Kenneth Copeland, Robet Tilton and Paul and Jan Crouch

there is a difference between being simple and having what you need than rich and having things you do not need or impoverished and not having things you need but buying into a relgion that tells you what is important (usually not yourself) and you give to them in advance thinking you are affecting the after life and giving to get rich, or greed and selfishness

there is a succor born for every educational chance turned down for religion

Not really...buddhism is a great belief system that teaches beautiful things about living in peace and harmony with the environment around, and promotes the concept of selfless living for the sake of goodness, which is not bad at all.
However, what I have found the major short-fall of pure buddhism is that it fails to explain the purpose of life in itself. Namely, it does not exactly describe where we came from, why we came to existance and even promotes an eternity of peaceful 'nothingness' at the end of it, which I found quite empty and not fulfilling at all.
As opposed to Christianity, which equally promotes the same good practices of goodness and selfless sacrifice, but it does so within the ultimate objective of a deity's loving realm. Christianity clearly describes the reason and definative origins of mankind, its original purpose to live and experience the love that it's God calls for, and give a sole purpose of living to find that God, experience Him, know Him, Love Him, and project that Love it experiences in the form of goodness to other fellow man.

Speaking of myself, I think Christianity is far more logically and realistically appealing with a purposeful mission as opposed to Buddhism.

like all religions buddhism is no better than christianity. religion is a way of controlling people, not giving them faith but rules, which are outdated and unevolved. People have moved forward but religion is still stuck in its primitive thinking. If u think buddhism or any religion is better, then you r not confronting the real problem but looking for an escape route.

in some ways as there are some very interesting thoughts and ideas put forth in this Religious Belief System. there is no Religious Belief System which has all the answers in my opinion so we must take the best each has to offer and incorporate them into a
" personalized " Belief system which works for us.
