I am 15 years old, and I am a new convert to the LDS Church. I am the first and only member in my entire extended family. I know Kolob is a star, but what exactly is its significance? Is it the Celestial Kingdom? I read the portion in the Pearl of Great Price, but I still don't understand.

Anna, welcome to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! There is much to learn and we do it line by line, precept upon precept.

The Lord revealed to Abraham (Abr 3) that Kolob was nearest His throne of brightness and righteousness and we suspect it is centered in His universe. Whether it is now the Celestial Kingdom is immaterial because in the time of the Lord, Earth will be renewed and become the Celestial Kingdom for those worthy saints to enjoy the presence of God the Father and His Son.

I express joy that you've begun to read more and more in the scriptures that we follow. Continue doing so with prayer and fasting and answers will come eventually. It is best to consult with your bishopric or your home teachers on such detailed questions.

You will quickly learn that any answers such as I give here are met with derision and doubt.

Again, there is much to learn and you can do that a little at a time. That way, you can build upon your personal testimony that is crucial to salvation through Jesus Christ.

The biggest concern here is not what a Kolob is. I couldn't tell you. But what does concern me is at such a young age, you have been recruited into the Mormon faith. I'm not here to bash any religion or faith, but what I would ask you to do is educate yourself on what you are buying into. Much of the Book of Mormon actually contridicts the Holy Bible, and has never had any archeological or geological proof. Not one coin mentioned one location mentioned in the book has ever been found. Nearly every type of artifact mentioned in the Bible has been found however. My friend, LDS is not Christianity, but rather covers itself under the sheeps wool of Christianity.

Again, I'm not here to bash. Mormons have been some of the nicest people I've ever met, but rather I want to offer you the facts.

Matt 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Matt 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Be Blessed
