Babies can understand quite a bit before they can say any words themselves. About 9-12 months old, when a baby is developing mobility, learning to crawl quickly, pull himself up on things, and walk, he can follow directions such as "Please don't touch the TV". Of course, he'll go back later and touch it again, looking at you to see if you really mean business. "Please give me the block", "Give mommy a kiss", and "Put the book on the shelf" are all the types of things a baby can easily follow between 12-18 months old. These are things with clear, concrete requests. Requests with more abstract ideas such as "Put away your toys", "Go to your room and play", and "Be nice to your baby sister" are nearly impossible for an infant or toddler to understand and follow. Each requires too much interpretation to be followed successfully. If you've ever sent your child to "clean his room", you know how your version of clean and his are completely different. By school age, a child should be able to follow a specific 3 step instruction pretty well. Ex. "Sally, please, put your socks in your hamper, put on your pajamas, and brush your teeth."

it depends on how u define simple instructions ... "No" is a simple instruction and i guess around 2 most children have already mastered this. "Take this to your mum" is more complex, and by the age of 3 most children understand it. There are children who do both earlier, or later, every child is unique and his or her develpment is evaluated on the whole, ability to talk, understand, walk and move, relate with others. Remember, the ages charts and books give are not "accurate", it is not as if at a specific month a child "should definitely" do something, they are all relative, just give u an average age. finally i have to say dont hesitate to ask your pediatrician anything that comes in your mind, no matter how silly u think it is :)

My baby doesn't. I can sit there and say "Now, go play in your room." but he does understand "No" and his name. So if he's misbehaving or I want his attention--I either say no or his name.

I really don't think any baby can just follow simple instructions but I'm not too sure what you mean by that.

When they are a few months old, they already understand simple instructions. Espically when you want to bring them out for a walk. When I wanted to carry babies in the nusary, I will said in child-like language like "kai kai" means walk walk, "bom bom" means bath, "mum mum" means eat and they understood.

human beings do in basic terms it because of a vendetta adversarial to somebody else. no one makes use of the community regulations in the right concepts. this is all about revenge it is faulty for sure and payback. this is all about convey the different man or woman down for your element or decrease. On yahoo solutions reporting human beings is all because it takes away their factors. human beings want larger factors then others. i'm no longer in it for the factors. My calling isn't that i'm getting factors yet that I tell God's message and if each and every man or woman hates listening to that you'll go away in the present day or be satisfied in the actual incontrovertible truth that Jesus Christ lives, what is going to or not this is? For i'm no longer likely everywhere everywhere. i am going to staying accurate right here. i visit walk in God's call until eventually eventually the day I meet Him in the clouds!

Babies don't' understand language as fast as they do other things you do. I guess the reason no is the first command a baby learns is because we use it first. And that usually happens either A) when they start walking, or B) when you are breastfeeding and they bite your nipple. Who really knows when they could understand it because we don't attempt to teach it until it's needed.

Cause they don't have their brain developed for complicated instructions.
