The answer is partly in the word sin it means without. To be in sin is to be without God whatever the action is. Lucifer became jealous of God, desired his power. Then believed he was more powerful than God. Started a war against God convinced angles to side with him ( it was at this point they were without God in sin ). They were cast down from Heaven to earth. It's almost over now. Lucifer's last stand is coming up soon! To believe you can defeate the one that created you is really insane, which Lucifer is!

Lucifer rebelled against the Father's plan of salvation wherein spirits could come to earth and gain a mortal body and then choose for themselves which path they wanted to take. The Father's plan would give all free agency to choose for ourselves.
Lucifer wanted none of it. He wanted to force everybody to return to heaven and worship only him. He wanted to usurp God's power and authority and dethrone Him. One-third of the hosts of heaven supported Lucifer's arguments and, as a result, were cast out of heaven with never having the opportunity to gain a mortal body.
Because you and all the rest of us living on this earth are here proves that we supported the Father's plan of salvation. Continue at reading and fasting over the scriptures and follow God's commandments to the best of your ability.

Lucifer was one of the archangels. When he felt he should share the throne of God, he was guilty of pride and trying to be equal to God. Nothing that is created can be equal to it's creator.
This is what the Bible says about it:
Isaiah 14:
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?
Note to avian You are referring to the new heaven which will be created at the end of time because as we can see from the book of Job, satan does have access to heaven but when satan is cast into the lake of fire, there will be a new heaven in which no sin can enter. Those who have trusted Christ have had their sin forgiven so they are able to enter.
Angel of Death, satan is not able to see the future any better then we can or he would not have thought he could win by killing the Son of God...Jesus. As for the suffering, satan is the one that has caused all of the suffering in an attempt to hurt God in the only way he can...by hurting people. Read the 2nd link

Angels are creatures who obey God in all He ordered them to do..
They do GOOD only , so they don"t make sins at all ...
In Islam we believe in God , His ANGELS , holy Scriptures and Messengers ; ALL His Messengers ..
Angels were created of LIGHT . They don't eat or drink .
They have different jobs but all in good and in worshiping God and praising him . They ask forgiveness to people who commit sins and seek repentence . The "keeper" of Heaven and of "Hell" are both angels .
One of the famous angels is Gabriel , The messenger of revelation to prophets : Moses , Jesus and Muhamed Peace be upon them ...

I thought Lucifer supposedly tried to usurp God,if that's not what he supposedly did I guess I don't know. Maybe he saw all the suffering God had in store for everything he had made, including us and he protested against it. After all we could never really accept the Bibles account could we,being as the victors always write the history it seems God might sort of omit some facts.

Angels did not sin in heaven they sinned on earth, they looked down on the beautiful women and materialised human bodies and took wives for themselves and bred hybrid children called the Nephilim. They persished during the deluge and the angels took back their spiritual bodies.
Genesis 6
The angels that sinned became demons and they are now cast to the vicinity of the earth along with Satan.
Revelation 12:9
hence the increased woe of violence, terrorism, war and turmoil this earth has experienced.
