Does anyone have any insight or advice to put this into action?

I would like to put together a community Thanksgiving dinner free to the people of the community I live in.

Some of my thoughts were to first see about the location chances are School or VFW as place to be held.

Second I have considered going to the local businesses to get the support in funding the whole thing

And third was to go around and get people to volunteer to prepare and help host the dinner.

But I really don’t know where to start, for one I am not a big role in the community but I want to give back a little bit by assembling and organizing such a thing.

So again if anyone has any insight or advice as to how to put this idea into action I’d be grateful.

If your community has a community center this might be a good local to host your dinner. My next thought would be to contact your local churches for support. You are going to need help and often the churches will respond. They would most like help with getting the volunteers and getting the sponsors. Good Luck!

I commend you for your willingness to help the community. I have recently put together a Costume event for families to have something safe & fun to do at the end of october. It was NOT easy to lock down the place or to get backing at first. But, first off, I put everything in writing so that when I finally got the person I needed to speak to about the place, I was able to present the proposal to him and he was able to show others the plan without my having to be there. You should do the same. First write all of your intentions out and then give it to as many churches, schools and businesses as possible. If they're not into helping with the food persay then maybe you can encourage fundraising so you can atleast purchase a place to hold your event. Maybe you may luck out and get a church to offer their space to you for free. PRAY! Good luck.

Enlist the aid of your local paper to generate community interest, leaving a contact number for businesses. Be clear about what type of support you are seeking...monetary, personnel, ideas etc. I hope you manage to see it through, very unselfish thought!
