It would be best to have a web design program such as Dream weaver (Adobe I think) or Microsoft Front Page and then buy a book for the one you bought ( there are many)

Programing in HTML is really arduous but you could start there without buying software just get Html for beginners or HTML for Dummies.

Well I have designed my share of websites, although I am not a pro I have used a lot of different web design programs. I would recommend Flash CS3 it's just the easiest to use, I'm not an expert but I have designed alot of sites on a variety of programs and Flash gave me the least trouble. How long will it take to be gud? well it depends on individual talent and the hours you put in, after 7 weeks I was starting to get real results. This software is rather visual, which means you don't have to spend time programming and can actually just get straight into page design. However if you were interested in writing a site it will also allow you to do that.

Go to the newsagent and look for the web design mags there, they often have free starter programmes on the cover cd. Good luck!
