Ok you can do one of two things.
Firstly because you have thin hair you really need a thick style product like wax and put that through you hair. By the way your hair should be damp (not like soaking...towel dry first). Then you can use some hair curls and make barrel rolls like that. Pin it up with bobby pins. Leave it in for at least 2-3 or even longer. Usually I leave my hair for like a whole day for an evening event.
Secondly do the same thing only use a diffuser.
Hope this helps!

Go down to your mums hair salon and ask for a shampoo and roller set,
Ask the stylist to demonstrate how to put rollers in your hair, type of setting lotion to use, and type and size of rollers that will be suitable for your hair,
I did this and now get great results at home after some practice
A perm is a drastic action and should not be considered lightly

I would try to achieve wavy hair. That is a lot more attainable for your type of hair without getting a perm. With your hair, even with hot rollers, curls will probably just fall out into waves. Try some beach spray.

Try hot rollers.
But if your hair is baby fine then you need to use some volumizing products before hand to help it stay in place.

A good volumizing shampoo, avaliable everywhere. Also you could use a large curling iron or try rollers

Try mousse or gel before curling with an iron or scrunch your hair
