London is the most expensive city in Britain to live in, and is 2nd in Europe as the most expensive city to live in (I read that a while ago, it may have changed). However, wages are high - but even so buying a house is impossible for anyone under about 35. The midlands and the north are much cheaper than the south to live in - but they are less desirable. Cardiff is a nice city, it's come a long way in the last 15 years, and it's pretty cosmopoliton now. Edinburgh is also nice - but you have to put up with the Scottish weather. If you want cheapness then go to the north east, hull and grimsby are very inexpensive - but are depressing as hell.
Crime in the UK is generally lower than in the US, though London, Manchester and especially Nottingham are becoming increasingly dangerous, as gun crime is rising astronomicly.

yes its expensive. I'm an expatriate and wanted to be repatriated there. everything there is double of what you pay in the us, canada, or australia. That has to be considered in the decision. You will be charged double of what you are charged in the us. The crime rate for muggings and stabbings is extremely high. The uk has europes highest level of debt per person. The best places to live are in the south west - the west country. On a higher note the uk does have the worlds fourth largest economy.

It is very expensive. Not only do you have to think about rent - the council taxes in this country are exhorbitant, fuel prices are up 30% in the last 2 years, food prices are on the rise and the government doesn't give a damn about the indiginous people of the UK. I wouldn't bother if I were you - there are loads of European countries that must be practically empty because all they're all over here.

i'm perfect there with you. the only issues i've got achieved out of those is start up a family individuals, and get a private pension (through artwork). residing in London, it incredibly is impossible to purchase a vehicle. The congestion can charge might rob me of £8 an afternoon, the coverage may be too extreme and petrol expenditures are becoming constantly. residing house inprovements and holiday trips are out of the question on the 2d as i'm a single parent and each penny I certainly have is going into clothing and feeding my teenagers, and protecting a roof over their heads. And a speedy remark to Foo. no longer incredibly everyone seems to be broke because of the fact we are chucking away money on nights out. I certainly have tremendously plenty no social existence to talk of. i do no longer drink alcohol in any respect, i do no longer flow clubbing, i became dropped interior the shite via my loser ex-husband. Oh, and for the record i've got not got any credit enjoying cards or loans the two, so i'm residing merely interior of my skill perfect now.
