"Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect" Matthew 5:48

"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them..." Matthew 7:12

"...Because strait is the gate: and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." Matthew 7:14

"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say unto me, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in the name done many wonderful works? And then I will profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." Matthew 7:22-23

Why do you insist you cannot be perfect when Jesus calls upon you to be perfect, & warns you that few will find the narrow way, & warns you that many who believe themselves "christian" will be rejected?

Would you gainsay Jesus to soothe your ego?

We are called to be perfect but Jesus said he knew full well that there are none perfect but the Father. I know I will backslide on accasion but I feel I am doing the best I can and I believe when I go it will be to Heaven.

Sorry if it doesn't seem fair to you, but God can do whatever he wants to. His universe, his rules. Besides, if all that it takes to get into heaven if for you to tell Jesus that you are truly sorry for your sins (and mean it), then it must look rather pathetic to God if you can't even do that. It implies that you didn't want Heaven all that much if you cannot do even such a small thing. ------------------------- And his servants came near and spoke to him, and said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do something great, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, ‘Wash, and be clean’?” So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. And he returned to the man of God, he and all his aides, and came and stood before him; and he said, “Indeed, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, except in Israel... ---2 Kings 5:13-15 (NKJV) {EDIT} In response to what "atheistsareus" said, "Because of a mistranslation or an error in translation of the book of John (14:6)..." There is more than just one (1) passage in the Bible where either Jesus, Peter or Paul says that Jesus is the only way. You would have to assume that almost the entire NT is mistranslated for her theory to be correct. Have a good one!

When the Bible says perfect, it means complete - we can only be complete with Jesus Christ. We can never be perfect, only Jesus Himself was the perfect man as He was God incarnate. We are complete when we have the Holy Spirit of God within us through salvation. Blessings to you.

The main point of the whole Bible and the main point of Jesus is to have a relationship with GOD. We will be perfect and we are being conformed to the image of Jesus. There is one who accuses us but we don't pay him to much attention.

May GOD richly bless you.

gainsay? thats not the way to salvation it is by faith to Jesus(dying & ressurection) not to echoes what he says because like you aptly put it "not all who call Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven"..

We are called to be purfect but GOD knows that is impossable for us. So HE loved us greatly that HE proved a way for us. That is the death of HIS son JESUS so that we can come to HIM.
