All american Airports have an Official Taxi co-ordinator outside. Always get a cab from this person because you then have assurance that you are getting a legit cab. The co-ordinator must report and expel non sanctioned cabs. The cab co-ordinator wears a unifrom, ask at the information desk were to find them. They also fix the price to your destination before you travel but you need to pay a 10% tip, it's expected.
Enjoy your Trip!

Taxi's are exspensive. If you do get a taxi make sure its from the Taxi rank were a guy is there to help you.

If you fly in to JFX there is a monorail outside the airport. I went to Jamiaca station were the new York subway is. I went last december and felt really safe. Wish I was going again. Good luck

Most of NY's major airports have train and bus links to Manhattan, at a low cost whereas taxi's cost about $50. Ask at the airport's information desk and they will be able to inform you where you can catch the bus or train.

I would use the bus/train link from the airport to the city. A taxi going that far could eat a big chunk out of your spending money.

Have fun!

The best way is to grab a cab outside the terminal. How you have a great time in The Big Apple!!!

most convenient is to get a cab, but also more expensive, there are shuttles and trains as well, you did not mention which airport - jfk, la guardia, or newark?
they will help you at the information desk in the arrival terminal.

stand around the airport and ask every strange person you meet if they are going by your hotel, then if one of them says that they are jump into their car without asking any questions.
