It's as secure as any other South American city. As said before, just apply the same common sense you would use in NYC, LA or Miami. Don't just hail any cab off the street, rather, call it in or ask the front desk/porters to get you one. Don't carry lots of cash or expensive watch/jewelry. If your appearance calls attention (i.e. you look foreign) try to move around with someone instead of by yourself.

Pretty much so. Its about as safe as any other city in Colombia. Its only about 10 minutes from the Venezuelan border. I was there once for the week from Christmas to New Year. It was pretty safe, just stay away from the slums which are on the hillside.

Colombian cities are usually secure of course if you apply common sense. Like in any other city, stay away from slums and other zones you may see and consider "dangerous". Ask around, us Colombians will be glad to answer any questions. And take normal precautions...dont carry too much currency, never walk alone at night, etc. It will be fun and i guarantee you will enjoy this gorgeous city.
