I assume you mean can they find out if the prescription was filled, not whether you've actually taken the meds. If they bothered to check with the pharmacy database - yes, I'm pretty sure the prescribing doctor is allowed to access that information. However, chances of them doing that are roughly nil unless they have a particular reason for doing so.

A better question is why you're trying to con your GP? They're not the enemy, they're trying to help you, it's in your best interests to be honest with them so they can figure out the correct treatment. Telling them you've taken a medication you in fact haven't taken has great potential to screw up their diagnosis and consequently your health.

Well a GP cannot tell with confidence if u hav taken the prescribed medication or not. Only a lab analysis can reveal the truth, but if u hav spent the money visiting a GP, then y not go for the prescription, else Y visit him in the first place.

The chemist would have a record of all prescriptions filled, but the GP wouldn't routinely go looking to find out.

Whether you take the medicine or not is down to you.

"used" ?

No, a GP cannot normally tell if you have taken the drugs without some sort of consenting tests.

A pescription can be traced to see if it was fulfilled at a chemists. But that would require a court order and the police ( and , of course, a decent reason to investigate )

No they are not able to tell whether you have used a prescription. They are not able to tell by the chemist either as you are allowed to take your prescription to any chemist in UK. I would advise taking any medication though as its obviously been prescriben to help you!

No they wouldn't usually check unless they thought you were lying. They don't have time or can't be bothered with things like that, but i wouldn't get caught doing it or you may end up without a GP altogether.

Not just by looking at you, unless the prescription is a life saver which you've not taken. You would then look a bit sickly, at the very least.

It depends on the situation. They usually asked medications you had taken, or aggravating & factors which helps lessen what you are feeling.
If you dont tell the truth, it is you yourself who will be at the loosing end anyway.
