History of asthma past age 13 is a Permenent Disqualifier. If you lie about it, you will get found out eventually and will be discharged with a fraudulent enlistment and lose every benefit you had coming, to include GI Bill and VA loans.
It is no laughing matter. every recruit, from every branch, has to go through the gas chamber. It's hard enough on healthy people, it can trigger a fatal reaction in asthmatics.

No, you cannot join with asthma. A lot of people lie about the asthma, but if you have an attack in basic training (which is very likely) you will be discharged and it takes months for the discharge to be finalized so you have to stay in a MED HOLD unit.

Every so often I see someone (I'm an Army Medic) with breathing difficulties and I have to ask them to tell me truthfully if they have asthma. Usually they do and it turns out that they lied about it when they went to MEPS. You need to ask your civillian doctor if your asthma is such that you actually can do military tasks.

you should call the military themselves and enquire about it. Because you want to get a definite and correct answer and sometimes you just don't know on this site, people's answers are all over the place haha, some people say yes while others say no, so call a military and ask them, they'll give you the right answer. =)

I don't think you can unless you get a medical waiver... however, they won't kick you out for it any more if it is discovered once you are already in. Check out the attached website...
