Throughout my questions I see many claims made with vague reference to "the Bible", no citation to chapter and verse quoting Jesus as their authority to make such claims.

Are they not trying to broaden the narrow way so they may feel they qualify for life?

"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate: and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree brigeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit..."
Matthew 7:13-27

I'm not exactly sure what your asking here. but I don't quote scripture much because one verse that has a meaning for me could have 1,000 different meanings to others. Besides, I have more references then the Bible, that make my [churches] claims a little more accurate. the bible even says that all things can be testified with two or more witnesses. so then then why do some say we only have the Bible, when there is a lot more out there?

True Christians do not leave misleading references to the bible
Only False Christians do that they may think they are Christian
but they really are not.. One of the phrases in the bible are
Be False To No Man. You know that's in the bible I'm not going to bother with the passage no. cause that's spoon feeding.
Books Genesis, Exodus.
Please stop branding Falsehooders as Christians it's only the
False Christians that do falsify things about the bible
Are you an Atheist trying to find reason to remain Atheist?

I think that many people don't support their claims with scripture citations because they don't really know what the Bible says. Also I've seen people use vague reference to the Bible to make ridiculous claims seem plausible thinking gullible people will say, "If the Bible says it, it must be true" when it may not say it at all. If you don't know what Jesus is saying, how can you reference it?

Most Christians just don't know the specifics, Because they are not apologists, they feel that it is just more important to learn the big picture instead of learning specific verses. Also, the knowledge base of many Christians is just what they pick up in church or Sunday school, which doesn't usually give long for one to familiarize themselves with the material.

Generally speaking I can cite the chapter and verse that goes with my answer but many people do not like reading long answers and would rather just simply sink their teeth into the meat of the answer.

I agree with you. Chapter and Verse should be quoted when possible. It helps to make things clear.

As an atheist, I think a better question would be: Why use the Bible to support any claims, since the "words of Jesus" were written decades after this guy supposedly died, if he existed at all?

Just quoting scriptures is like reading the Bible and memorizing it.
Most people are looking or guidance. When they get that, they can read the Bible for themselves.
