e. because Hajj is only obligatory on those who can afford it.
as far as middle classes are concerned , it is not necessary for them to take luxurious package including first class in aeroplanes or big hotels, u can just buy a small package.
the question of luxury is that " actions are judged by intentions" so if yr primary intention was true then it does not really matter that u go luxuriously but perfection lies in modesty aaand m,aybe u can give some money which u were originally using to buy an expensive package to the poor and get yr reward from Allah

In the USA it is pretty inexpensive. We can purchase a moderate package for less then $4000. If you think about all the crazy things that we spend money on every day, $4000 really is not that much even for most low income families. The main thing is prioritizing, to me, making Hajj is so much more important than having a new car, or 20 pairs of shoes in my closet.

In fact, BY THE GRACE of ALLAH, people have got enough fininacial resources and cost of travelling, living over there has increased. BUT we should not say it a 'LUXURY' as its an obligation and its 'FARAZ' for those who qualify. Look! Allah (Swt) has not made hajj as 'FARAZ' for all muslims but those who can bear the expences, who are healthy to travel and perform all required activities, and related terms as well. Moreover, we should look the prices and costs of other goods and services at the same level and then calculate the expenses involved for hajj journery. Can you comapre the cost of your dresses, shoes, school, travelling for school or to office. Are these the same as used to be a few years ago, when hajj journey was cheaper than today.

It is rather expensive, but if a person can not afford it, he is excused from the obligation. Many people save up for it for a long time. I don't think you can call hajj a luxury for anyone. I've not yet been, but as I understand it, it brings about a deep change in a person's life outlook and strengthens their belief.

I am sorry I cannot do the MC! We cannot judge ... It is so in my country but other countries are richer and the middle class would face no problem affording it.
Anyway, Hajj is the only of the five pillars of Islam that you are obliged to do it only if you can afford it. So if they cannot afford it, no problem.

Middle class where... I guess people from the neighbour countries can afford it, even the poorest guy can walk there and live on the zakat, if he/she s devoted enough.
Middle class people can surely afford it if they are from a rich country, but I guess it's pretty luxurious for someone average in Indonesia or Afghanistan.

c.
How expensive it is depends where you live.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Hajj a religious requirement only for those who can afford it financially?

It is still possible to do it at a relatively cheap cost. It just depends on how much luxury you want to do it in.

luxury? no
i must disagree, it's a bit expensive but that's why it's not an obligation, it's an obligation ONLY if you are financially and physically able.
