I'm guessing that what you're asking is "Why are some of the files and folders in my drives showing a blue highlight while others are plain black? I've got Windows XP."

Well, the blue highlighted folders and files mean that they have "links" associated with them, while the plain black ones are stand alones.

There are two type of file systems supported by XP

1. NTFS
2. FAT32

You are using NTFS and blue ones are either encypted or compressed folders.

Rest are Normal.

as they said NTFS, and FAT, and by the way its not something important for the user to know which is encrypted in NTFS and which is not, so if u want them to appear all the same

go to Tools-->Folder Options--> View --> Show encrypted NTFS files in color
uncheck this one
