Totally agree they should wear some kind of uniform.... Have you seen the state some of the teachers that arrive to teach our kids... If they dressed more like they were going to do a job they would get more respect too.

The reason that school uniforms came in is so that you couldn't tell who was richer and who was poorer, this is why schools adopted a uniform however each school wanted to be individual so they imposed their own set of uniform, this was supposed to give the children a sense of identity and pride for their school. Yes, I do think that teachers and teaching assistants should have some kind of identity with the school. I am a teaching assistant and both teachers and teaching assistants wear the same uniform as the children, even the headteacher does and it does give you a sense of belonging and pride.

I wouldn't agree with uniforms as such, but there should be some sort of dress code for them, like shirts and ties for the men, and office type attire for the women. The technology (workshops etc) and science teachers should wear white coats, and the P.T teachers should wear a selected sport kit. My school had these rules, and it looked good. I've passed schools aroun the country since then and some of the teachers are wearing t-shirts and jeans. It doesn't look professional.

I totally agree with you, have you seen how some of the teachers go dressed to school, half of them look like they have just jumped out of bed and thrown the first thing they grabbed onto their bodies, some of the women teachers have skirts far too short and tops far too low, disgusting when the kids are meant to wear a uniform and set an example to the school, pity the teachers don't practise a bit of dress sense themselves.

When I was teacher training, we were always advised to wear smart, business style clothes - to set an example to the pupils and to differentiate us from them. I don't think that making teachers wear a 'uniform' would be practical or popular - after all, grown ups have been through school once! More importantly than how they dress is how they teach.

I'm not a teacher but I think that the questioner should spend more time studying rather than complaining about what teachers wear. I detect grammar, syntax and spelling mistakes everywhere! However, maybe I'm being too hard - just do 50 lines and we'll call it evens. As far as the question goes teachers are there to teach the little rats and not dress like them!

I agree with this answer at my sons school the teachers in the lower part of school wear a uniform of yellow polo t-shirts with the school name on and black pants or a skirt i think this is to help the younger children to reconise who the teachers are but they all look very smart the nursery department of the school were my daughter attends all wear red polo t-shirts

Uniform for students and a strict dress code
for teachers is a must. So many good system are
being abused, these days in the name of human rights.

I support the school uniform policy. It saves a lot of children from being teased if their parents are able to afford to spend big bucks on clothes.

Teachers are told how they're expected to dress, just like any employee in any other kind of situation.
