Linux is one of the operating systems available today.
Like windows, Linux is a Graphical user interface (GUI) and Unix is a Character User Interface (CUI) like DOS. But we have rich set of commands in unix. We can write script programs using unix commands which will be more effective than the batch programs in DOS.

An Operating System, or OS, is a software program that enables the computer hardware to communicate and operate with the computer software. Without a computer Operating System, a computer would be useless.
UNIX
Unix, which is not an acronym, was developed by some of the members of the Multics team at the bell labs starting in the late 1960's by many of the same people who helped create the C programming language. The UNIX today, however, is not just the work of a couple of programmers. Many other organizations, institutes and various other individuals contributed significant additions to the system we now know today.
Linux
Developed by Linus Torvalds and further elaborated by a number of developers throughout the world, Linux (lee'nuhks/ or /li'nuks/,_not_/li:'nuhks) is a freely available multitasking and multiuser operating system. From the outset, Linux was placed under General Public License (GPL). The system can be distributed, used and expanded free of charge. In this way, developers have access to all the source codes, thus being able to integrate new functions easily or to find and eliminate programming bugs quickly. Thereby drivers for new adapters (SCSI controller, graphics cards, etc.) can be integrated very rapidly

Unix is an Operating System that has been existing before MicroSoft Windows . The origin of this Multi-User Operating System was in an abandoned AT & T Labs "Multics" Project way back around 1969 . The Multi-User O/S was reborn as Unix in 1970 . Ken thompson and Dennis Ritchie rewrote Unix Compiler in C Language in 1973 and that was a turning point in the Unix History . It was turned into an O/S that could be run on Small Systems and Portable between different hardwares . Over time , it developed into Berkeley University Edition - BSD and SVR4 (System Release 4) . It has multiple vendors AND flavours : Sco Unix , Berkely Unix , HP/AIX , Scoware Unix etc .
Linux started around 1991 by Finnish University of Helsinki Student Linus Torvalds . He made it available on Internet . This is similar to Unix in terms of commands and many tools . However it is an Open Source O/S and one can develop one's own version by modifying the Kernel .
James Cameron used 200 Linux Machines in parallel to create the Visual effects in the Superhit "Titanic" .

Unix & linux are both Operating systems for the computers. Originally Unix operating systems was developed by bell laboratories and it was the sole owner of it. Unix is a multi user operating system and most of its features were written in C programing language. Over the years the Unix operating system was abandoned by the Owners and Since the source code of Unix sytstem was made public a free and open to all operating system was evolved using most of the features from the Unix and it was named as the Linux operating system. Originally this was nothing but Unix but over a point of time The GUI features were added to the Linux operating system so now it looks more or like the Windows Operating system. Not only that many free add-on softwares like Open Office etc have come and all of them are free and One can load Linux and all the other free open software for free without any licence hazzeles and enjoy the computing free. As on date not many are using these systems but the trends indicate that Linux & its add-on will rule the computing world in the days to come.

You mean what are Unix and Linux Operating Platforms. [Please remember plurals and spellings.]
Unix and Linux Operating Platforms are Operating Systems like Windows; only they are different in that they are "written" differently, in different "languages" and Linux is an "Open Source" which is free and even lets you copy the source code upon which you can build, unlike Windows.
Here's a Tutorial, for beginners, on Unix, where you can learn all about it. http://www.ee.surrey.ac.uk/Teaching/Unix/
This one will teach you all about Linux. http://www.linux-tutorial.info/
You, probably haven't heard about Solaris, which is yet another OS. Learn all about it from http://solarismadeeasy.com/
Please do make it a point to go over your basic grammar and English, because, in today's world, you'll need to have your English at International Standards, to be able to succeed.
All the best.
Cheers.

At one time, you can only run 1 operating system on your PC. However you can run a virtual machine or a virtual operating system on your PC to emulate other operating systems. Examples: - Microsoft Virtual Machine - VMware - cygwin - QEMu I hope this is adds to the answers.
