This is one job that really does not require humans. It could be automated so that nobody needs to worry about it. All that would happen would be that any money put in the bank automatically loses 10% of itself and the deduction goes to the IRS directly from banks.

That way nobody needs to go to hell whether on foot or on her motor bike.

Your focus is wrong just like everyone else. You would shoot the messenger rather than the sender of the message.
The IRS administers the laws that congress and the President have put in place. They go after taxpayers based on directions provided by the Congress and the White House.
If you don't like the system change the lawmakers not the messenger.

No, but if you can persuade Congress not to spend more than the IRS brings in, you can keep Social Security from going to hell. :-)

It depends on several things: If you enjoy your work, yes you'll go there. If you never waive any penalty fees, yes you'll go there. If your office telephone is wired into the digital phone process, where someone presses 1 for English, and after 15 minutes not one option has made your phone ring, yes you'll go there. If, when you telephone other business's you complain about being put on hold, yes you'll go there. If you've ever put a customer on hold to enable you to let out a rip-roaring laugh, yes you'll go there. If you've never cheated on your taxes, yes you'll go there. If you've never brought home a pen from work, yes you'll go there. If you've ever reported your spouse's business for tax evasion, yep, you'll go there. And finally, if you've ever audited your mother, and really "stuck it to her," practice sitting in front of a big hot furnace.......
