I say my 12 year old who I might add is very very grown up, she cooks cleans irons and washes is ok to stay alone from school for about 2 hrs only to get changed have some food and feel all grown up. But after 2 hrs she must go next door to the nieghbours house or my nieghbour who is female and a wonderful mate of mine would come in my house. But I need to know the law if she is to do this as I will not break it by even one minute. I live in the uk what is the legal age?

The law does not suggest an age as long as the child is not being neglected. The suggested ages are 12 to be left alone and 16 to be left alone overnight.

Having read the other answers I would suggest you forget them especially the first one which was abusive to say the least. The legal age that a child can be left alon is 13 and that is 100% right. I checked it out myself with regard to my 12-year old kids as like you I didn't want to break the law. This information I gained from the local police station.

I think the law is 14 but I was very grown up as a child so my mother used to let me stay home at the age of 12 as she trusted me. Just alongs as someones keeps nipping in to check on her it will be fine <3

In the UK there is no law stating at what age it is permissible to leave a child home alone. However parents can be prosecuted for leaving a child home alone when doing so puts them at risk.

Leaving your child alone at home really depends on whether you believes she has the physical and mental capacity to care for themselves during your absence. you must also Provide emergancy phone accsess, and ensure someone you trust is close by.

I would suggest contacting your local council and/or Police dept so that you can get hold of some very deffinate guidelines.

The age regulation trumps the consent regulation (purely because of the fact it rather is greater particular). This purely ability that the guy that's sixteen has the criminal appropriate to have intercourse with somebody as much as the age of 18. the nineteen 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous is now to previous, and the sixteen 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous now no longer has that appropriate.

It differs there is not a legal age if at 12 you think that she is responsible and mature enough to look after her self then there is not a problem but she needs to be16 to be left over nite, i would still be careful though.

Hi there, I am positive the age is 12 to be left unsupervised for a while. I am not sure whether it is 14/16 for being unsupervised overnight. Hope that helps you.

I'm 80% sure the age is 14. But i also feel the parent should judge to. I would be more than happy to leave my daughter at home, but not the son. there is only a year between them.

This is a good question.
