I'm very ashamed as a brit to say this, but if we pull out now, we could wreck Iraq more than it already is. Besides, the Yanks need babysitters, don't they? I'm not trying to cause offence to any American reader. I understand that your leader stole the White House, and years of bad government have taken their toll on the public, but let's not go there. I believe that the best idea would be not to have sent our troops there in the first place. If Tony Blair was half useful, he would realise that the British Army exist to protect British soil, and not help Bush invade a few oilfields. Our troops CERTAINLY should be at home with their families, but it would be foolish to pull them out now.

Yes, lets pull the troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan and seek a UN resolution for an invasion of USA.

Since they shot 50 year old Terry Lloyd an ITN journalist in Iraq in the head while he was in a makeshift ambulance, having already been hurt in crossfire.

This is not a friendly fire incident but a war crime.

At the moment the slimy yanks are refusing to take responsibility. Also their electoral system is riddled with corruption

So, lets invade to liberate the American people and restore democracy

lets consider the easyness of the armchair oppinion of the back home civilian,The men on the job are troops, in ausome conditions, The Genrals in the field are the only ones who know the truth, if the truth is to be told without fear of repercussion, Then let the Genrals speak and even if they do speak, what's the guarentee they are not the words of yes men telling us what polaticians want us to hear.Dont forget ,they only give you what they want you to know, not what they dont want you to know. Now Sir Richard donnat has made a stand, hold back till lets see what happens, see if outher genrals and such back him up, Those who say what about going in this country or that country are the same ones who want them out when they get there, so us amatuers should let the genrals decide, stuff the polaticians. Now lets hear it from the navy, and the r.a.f. if a successful strategy can be found , stay if not leave,Trust people who have the bottle to say no or yes without fear.

Here is the way that I see it. There are two options.
- pull out (or)
- send in a million man army and totally control the country

Staying in Iraq the way that we are is suicidal for the US and for the people of Iraq.

NO,
Although I appreciate the Iraqi resistance, and that the US invasion was a disaster, But I believe that if the US just left Iraq it will make another disaster, as every fighting group will try to rule an unstable country.

yes.. studies show that it takes 10 service men for every 1 guerrilla. we are not fighting for my or your freedom but for people who don't even want us there. cut and run...pull out...reverse course...retreat...in the long run they all mean the same...stopping senseless killing of American military personnel. i think now it has become a will of egos... iraq has been there for thousands of years... who are we to force a style of government on them that they might not agree with????

Tamer a we are the reason it is unstable there... sadam was a murdering fool but it was what it took to keep that area of the world in order.

We don't want to be there.

They don't want us there.

Our boys are being butchered and it's time to call it a day.

There has to be a point where we can't let OUR men and women die and i think that time is past.

There will probably be a civil war but i can't see that not happening anyway, are we going to stay there for the next 50 years?!!!

It's time to be selfish, get our men and women out of there now while they can walk and not be carried in a wooden box.

Yes, as soon as Islam was ADDED to the constituition, and womens groups crying out in despair its time to leave. We should not support coutries who have the disempowerment of women as a core piece of legislature.

Women getting beaten to death for wearing jeans - is this freedom?

Leave the sunnis and shias to knock seven bells out of each other.

Move the soldiers to Afghanistan where there is a REAL problem, poppy growth is outstripping supply, potentially drugs getting cheaper = more crime/crack heads in UK, also stamp out a real terrorist threat. Afghanistan also more of war rather than our guys driving around getting sniped and IEd'd continually in Iraq.

Yes.

92% if iraqis want the foreign invasion troops to leave. Isn't this "democracy"?

The US government quest for complete world dominance is heading for a "worst case" scenario. Its time to salvage something from this disaster for the iraqis and the americans.

No,
We have paid in blood. We need a permanent base in Iraq to keep an eye on Syria and Iran.
We need to stop playing policeman. Barb wire off hostile areas, cut electric power, water, food and transportation.
We have the carrot called democracy, that they will not understand for years, now we need to use the stick.
