I'm pretty much asking whether or not you think a person believing in evolution can still call themselves a Christian, or would they be considered something else?

Many great things come from religion, but being a knowledge-seeking person I can't deny the apparent validity of evolution.

Thanks for the answers.

Religion is not cut and dry. I think that, no matter what religion you are, you can believe anything that makes sense to you. All people need something to believe in...some higher force to keep them in line or to go to when you're in a time of need. Many morals come from religion, but it is the people that are so close minded, the ones that believe that bible stories actually happened that way, that will be stunted from further spiritual growth. It makes sense that human bodies evolved from some creature that looks very similar, but bodies are just shells your soul uses to further learn the many lessons that life can teach us. Do not let religion limit you to the guidelines set before you by others. You can be Christian, Catholic, Buddist, even Athiest and have different beliefs than someone of the same faith...just use your head and follow your heart, it doesn't mean you are any less of a Christian for doing so.

Yes, a christian can go both ways. I don't believe in the concept of humans coming from some monkey-like creature. But as far as some of the creatures on this earth, I do believe they adapted to fit. But I believe this makes More proof of GOD and his abilities. I do not believe in the BIG BANG theory. I just can't see so many different creatures, some evolving and others not, all traced back to 1 BIG BANG. No, I can't prove my idea, but neither can the Evolutionists. There are still some big questions, some links that don't fit . Kinda like filling in the blanks to make the story plausable. I believe there are a lot of facts that weren't given in the Bible. The dates really can't be authenticated. The story was what was told by GOD. Laugh if you will, but I believe he gave them what they could handle. No, I don't have all of the answers. Nobody does !!

Yes. You become a Christians by believing in Jesus Christ and confessing Him as your Lord. (Romans 10:9-10). You may have many doctrinal errors in your thinking and that is the reason why God calls us to study to "show ourselves approved unto God". Bible study is a life long thing, and after being a Christians now for over 60 years, I am still learning new things out of the Bible and am finding things that I have believed all my life that are not right. The problem with evolution is that the Bible is your only real source of truth and if you find "error" on the first page of the Bible what are you going to do with the rest of the Book? If you think God lied to you about how the universe came into existence what hope do you have for discovering His truth on other matters. One day you have to stand before God and give account to Him, What are you going to say to Him if you don't believe what He said? Hebrews 11:3 "By faith we understand that the worlds were created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible."

Lets look at it this way, did cars evolve all on their own, or did they come into being all on their own, or did it take intelligent design and creation? Just an example. Were we all witnesses to the creation of the universe and man? No, but God was and in His wisdom and mercy and love gave us the account of Creation in His word. Do we then in ignorance state we know better than God is to call Him a liar even though all Creation speaks of His Glory and Power to create. Get over it mankind you are not the top of the ladder in either power or intelligence. In fact the Bible says we are made a little lower than the angels. There are many flaws and holes in the "theory" of evolution, in fact it is said Darwin himself repented to the Lord on His death bed.

The question you should ask is whether you can be a Christian and still think independently. In as much as Christianity(and all religion) is the end result of a failed search for truth by a very shallow mind ( provided that any search was made at all instead of swallowing the pile of delusional bilge that was spoon fed to you as a child), I would have to say that you either embrace rationality or continue to wonder if truth or superstition will rule your life.

The answer is something else! You cannot mix the two. You either believe in God and his works or you don't!
On his deathbed Darwin said something to the effect that had he known people were going to believe his theory in the way they did he would not have put it forth.
One of the definitions of theory is: A guess, A conjecture. To Darwin it was just an idea he had based on his studies. He never thought it would ever be taken seriously. Darwin believed in God and the creation. It really saddened him to find people took his idea and held it above Gods Creation.
I looked into this many years ago and this is my memory of what I found about Darwin. I suggest you look into it yourself, to satisfy your own curiosity. It shouldn't take much research, I know it didn't me when I got curious about it.

Well i don't think you can believe in evolution and the creation in the Bible together. The Christian faith is a very difficult thing at times. But that's what makes us Christians. So i will have to say that if you believe in evolution you are loosing your faith as a Christian.

i became raised as a Christian yet I nonetheless settle for evolution. i'm going to describe why. God suggested, "enable there be easy. " And He observed the easy became sturdy. i'm exceptionally advantageous that as quickly as the vast Bang got here approximately, there became a good style of light. i don't sense the previous testomony became meant to be taken actually. Adam and Eve are symbolic of society on the time. i think of that's the factor in historic previous whilst guy began to question himself approximately his very own morals. possibly human beings the place commencing off to be much less nomadic than interior the previous and subsequently had to take duty for the relationships that they had with others around them. maximum Christians stay by ability of the recent testomony. those are the instructions of Jesus. they're difficulty-unfastened morals that everybody could stay by ability of.

im christian and really dont have a problem with the general theory of evolution-- i still believe that God made man in His own image...but... if I was am omnipotent being-- and time had no meaning for me... and i began life from "scratch" ... i dont think it would be inconceivable that i begin something and sit back and watch what develops...
there are a lot of holes in the theory of evolution... even Darwin was skeptical ...but like i said.. i try and keep an open mind

I think anyome who wants to do so can call him/herself a Christian.

In Canada, for example, acceptance of evolution is somewhere in the 90% range, yet 75% of Canadians call themselves Christians. So at a minimum, 65% of Canadians are self-identified Christians who believe in evolution.
