I have no doubt Sir Richard is telling the truth as he and many other service personnel see it. He will of course be destroyed professionally by the bunch of cowardly politicians in government and opposition who know the truth but deny it every day of their lives for the sake of their ego.

The military are not elected by the state they apply for their job so they should not give their opinion on politics. Clausewitz commented that war is a continuation of politics by other means and he is correct, politicians should discuss politics and warriors discuss war. If he was elected by the British people he should give an opinion but until otherwise his views are potentially dangerous.
