Nothing wrong. Just wear a small gold wire or ring that goes through the hole. Take some antibiotics and pain killers for two days. apply coconut oil on the pierced area two to three times a day. That is all everything would be fine. Once thing I appreaciate your courage but never try again. If at all you want to learn the art then join as an apprentice to some ear boring person.

oh that can be dangerous if its the cartalidge part if your ear! you need to be very careful with piercings! i read somewhere a young lad who had his eyebrow pierced by a proffessional died because the salon wasn't clean and hygenic and due to dirty equipment! OK you must keep it clean, twice a day you should wash it in antisceptic, i find that boots' 'Nipple Spray' or 'Savlon' are just right as some antisceptics are too strong, you just need a mild one for ear piercings. and if you ever get a lump or bubble appear you should go straight to your nearest piercing salon to get it checked out! just in case!

Do you own an autoclave? It wasn't sterile.
Do you have training in anatomy, blood borne pathogens or cross contamination?
Was the "equipment" medical grade?
Was the earring implant grade.
Take it out, wash it off and pray you don't get an infection. Next time ask mom to take to to the piercer.

I did the same thing 20 years ago ( well my schoolfriends did it for me!) and I survived the trauma with the wonderful surgical spirit. Get loads and apply twice daily (morning and evening). An infection is not par for the course, don't worry yourself needlessly. Good luck!!

Make sure you keep it clean with an antiseptic lotion such as surgical spirit. Piercing your own ears is not as dangerous as people seem to think, so long as you have sterilised everything beforehand.

Keep it clean, use warm salty water and clean every few hours if you can. I pierced my own ear when I was a carefree teenager, wouldnt dare do it now!

Same as if you had got it done any other way, clean it as best as you can, keep the ring (gold is best for this) in for a good few weeks, turning it in the hole a couple of times a day and cleaning it with surgical spirit.
