I just read in this health website and it says: If you drink ice cold water 12 times a day, you will lose 300 calories? Is it true?

That sounds about right - your body would need to generate heat to replace that lost to the ice water, which means burning calories, and 300 calories for 12 glasses sounds reasonable...

Yes it is; however, you'll still need to exercise if you want to burn more calories.

300 calories, while it is SOMETHING, is nowhere near enough to make any noticeable difference, at least with the way most of us eat. If water helped a lot, I'd be the fittest person on the face of the Earth.

Make sure you drink water for the health benefits (namely, you stay hydrated & not ingest sugar in the process), and let the calorie burn to be an "extra benefit".

getyl has the right answer there....your body does indeed generate internal heat (which means using energy).

On the flip side: Drinking icy cold water or other drinks after exercising or on a hot day in an effort to cool down doesnt work. You should drink room temperature liquids instead, for the same reason....then your body won't need to generate extra heat.

Only true if you drink can cut down in food intake to certain extend. Still you have to eat but curb on high calories food. No more junk food.
