It just happened to me off Carnival Cruise yesterday. I went to get all 5 of me and my wife's luggage and only recovered 4. The one missing had all our pictures we took, plus some souvenir t-shirts, not to mention some of my clothes. Vacation ruined!

GRRRRR! Best wishes!

Our accident happened when the strap on the "loading" cargo boom, broke and all our luggage when into the water-before the cruise started. Talk about gross stuff and smell.

So my husband will never, never yell at me again. I always stored our clothes in trashbags, inside the luggage (in case a shampoo or cologne bottle broke) and our luggage floated to the top and was retrieved, because of the air in those bags. All okay because for some reason I tied them in knots (i never do that)- guess angels were packing clothes that morning.

Many other folks luggage were not recovered... in the ship channel. Divers came an retrieved them and they were delivered later or the people had to leave the ship (medicine and stuff).

Each person got a flat rate for their luggage and contents unless it was insured. $100-250 per bag and that was it.

We did loose our bag from Hawaii, just like your case and sad to say it was not recovered as well. No recourse at all.

I am sure they will find it or they should be responsible financially in some way... With airlines they take responsibility so I would imagine a cruise would be the same. I have been on 3 cruises so far and nothing like this has happened to me, so I am not exactly sure. But stay on top of them and hold them accountable, and they will probably take care of it.
