I think Sheila's got the best answer so far. Although she says it's "not very good", she is willing to think past the indoctrinated, knee-jerk responses that your other respondents have given when she asks "what age groups have we here?" Sara Joy's answer reveals a cultural bias here that the student is female, therefore putting her answer in the dreggs of responses. I've been in social work for decades, and I've seen sexual abuse and questionable behaviors for all those years, and have counseled on sexual/romantic relations during those decades as well, and I can tell you that people are not as "knee-jerk" or politically correct as your respondents profess, and they aren't "weird" or whatever. Very healthy romantic and sexual relations go on between people far beyond those we know of, and I'm not referring to homosexual or incestual activities here, which I disagree with entirely. God Bless you.

That's kinda a loaded question. People are assuming that you are talking about say a high school teacher with a high school student - which would be completely inappropriate. However, if it were a college student who was over the age of 18 and the teacher were close to the same age - it wouldn't be that bad. However, if the student were attending the teacher's class, it would be wrong. If the student were not attending the teacher's class, then it probably would be fine. However, in most school settings there are strict rules about such relationships - they are usually against the rules.

I think it's inappropriate and really gross, unless the teacher is like 20 and the student is 18. Other then that if a teacher had a relation with a student under 18 I think they'd need to seek help.

There are 2 reasons teachers shouldn't date students. The first is age and maturity. The second is ethical. Teachers may find themselves in the situation of being influenced by the student to make certain acceptions for them. They may also find it hard to resist using the students grade as a way of getting what they want.

Not very good. What age group are we talking about here? Elementary - never. Middle School - no way. High School - possible if the teacher were young (~21-24) and the student were 18+. College - likely.

I think it is very inapproiate.
Anyone working with children needs to be above reproach in relationships with their students.
I see it both ways...some teachers are downright pedifiles. Others are insecure and fall into a trap and don't keep themselves from the temptation. Either way it is WRONG.
I know that a kid that has been used by an adult teacher....has life long emotional problems. Life is difficult enough without a kid having such an inapproiate relationship.
Bottom line it is WRONG!

of course it is inappropriate, I mean it might seem cool or exciting or something to a teenager or a young student in college but the teacher sure as hell ought to know better and it is not in the least bit condoned by the rest of society

It's completely demented. Students are not mature enough to make decisions like this, and teachers are in a position of power and authority, which makes it even worse.
