ISO files are actually images of complete CDs compiles as one whole image, just like Ghost does for hard disks and partitions. ISO images can be loaded into several different CD recording software packages to create CDs.

You should burn it using NERO or some software that will let you burn the ISO file content into a CD. Then install it.

Nero - Burning ROM (Ahead Software)
You can use Nero Burning ROM to record a CD from an ISO file. You must purchase this program from Ahead Software. For more information about this program, visit the Ahead Software Web site at: http://www.nero.com

Steps to create a CD if you have installed Nero - Burning ROM:

Download the ISO CD image to a folder on your computer.

Insert a blank CD in your CD-RW drive.

Start Nero Burning.

Follow the wizard steps to select Data CD creation.

When the wizard closes, click Burn Image on the File menu.

In the Open dialog box, select the ISO file, and then click Open.

In the wizard, click Burn to write the image to the CD.

POWER ISO is a great program. you can use the evaluation version for free and it really doesn't limit you. it will let you mount an iso, into a virtual cd-rom drive so you can just execute the files, or even copy them to disk without having to actually burn an ISO. Love this program.. Highly recomended, and easy to use.

but you have to set windows to acknowledge iso can be opened by this program.
After you install the program
set up windows to open ISO's with this program. You can do this (using xp) by going to control panel then file options, click on the file type tab sort by file type (click on "file types") then find ISO Image file. below you will find a change button. click it and then find winrar click ok

ISO files are CD images (or EXACT COPIES of a CD), which requires a CD/DVD burning software... which normally costs money to do so.

The only FREE CD burning program that I'm aware of that supports ISO files is CDBurnerXP Pro ( http://www.cdburnerxp.se/ ).

Once you burn a CD from the ISO file, You can use the CD in any PC & access the program (or files) inside.

Daemon-Tools!

http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/announcements.php

works great, amazingly easy

just install, right click the icon, top choice is Virtual CD/DVD Rom, choose 1 Drive or whatever, then highlight virtual CD/DVD Rom again, highlight Device 0:, click Mount image and choose your .iso file. Easy stuff

go for version 3.47. its like the 3rd 5th choice on the downloads page

these people are crazy all this burning and stuff is un-necessary/time consuming/boring and plus daemon tools gives you a cool lightning bolt symbol like from the movie you, me & dupree. the best man lightning bolt.

If you want to run programs or it is a disc image and you want to play a game or install download Daemon Tools. That way you can mount the image just like if you put it in your cd drive.

They're not meant to be opened, they're meant to be burned to a CD or DVD.

However, if you really need to open one up, here are several programs that can do so.
